About this location
An exceptional, beautifully curated heritage location in Orkney, centred on a restored Victorian farmstead and watermill. Its authentic interiors, traditional farm buildings and wild coastal setting make it ideal for productions looking for genuine period character rather than a constructed set.
The farmhouse has been restored room by room to its original colour schemes, using the family's own furniture and possessions. Highlights include a Victorian kitchen and sitting room with its original range, a parlour bedroom, two period bedrooms (one with a traditional Orkney box bed) and a 1950s kitchen fitted out with authentic wallpapers, appliances and kitchenalia. A quirky shower room and a modern bathroom with sauna sit discreetly alongside.
Outside are a Victorian dairy, a byre with period farming equipment, a watermill, a kitchen garden laid out to 1920s plans, traditional livestock and sweeping views across the sea to neighbouring islands. It suits historical and period drama, documentaries, heritage programming and stories of rural and island life.
