Brocket is a Grade II Arts & Crafts large family house. It was built in 1907 and done in the Arts and Crafts style, and its quality of design and materials, make it stand out amongst this street of fine architecture as something quite exceptional.
The house has an interesting history, having changed use over time. Originally built as a single residential property, it was then occupied by the Anti-Attrition Metal Company in the 40’s, and subsequently acquired by Berkshire County Council and used as a technical research institute, East Berkshire College of Further Education, and later as a Child Guidance Clinic. In 1997 it passed into the ownership of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and used for educational and office space. They vacated it in 2014, and the current owners who brought it in 2021, have refurbished and modernised the house back to residential use, with works completing in 2023, and with an apartment annex on the 2nd floor in what would have been the servant quarters.
